A great match on Wednesday for the juniors as they togged out for their last game in Kilbogget for a long time.
Even though possession was strong in the first half the team got off to a slow start on the scoreboard trailing 1.8 to 2 points at half time. They had some good chances but were unlucky in converting them.
The team re focused themselves with a good half time briefing and upped the work rate and support play.
They went back out all guns blazing and got three consecutive goals coming from Caitlín, Olivia and Shannon with the winning goal also coming from Shannon. This team is a relatively new team playing together and it was brilliant to see the hard work and effort put in. As the goals came for the forwards the defence were excellent in keeping portobello from scoring along with Julie who stopped a number of potential goals. Coming back from the half time score line to win by a point truly takes determination and commitment. They are a great mix of players with some new faces joining the team this year also. It was also great to welcome Rachel Mahon back from a long injury.
Looking forward to watching this team progress throughout the season.
