In yet another away 'home' fixture, FoxCab Juniors travelled to Longmeadows in Chapelizod to face St Brendans in the 2nd match of this years Junior B Championship.

Both sides last met in the League on 6th April with FoxCab winning that encounter 3-8 to 1-3. Unfortunately the tide changed for the Championship and in this match St Brendans claimed the spoils with their 3-14 to 2-4 winning margin.

The first half was very cagey and low scoring, with St Brendans in an early lead of 0-6 to 0-3. FoxCab full forwards Ciara Murphy and Jessie Kane scored a point each from play with mid fielder Rachel Mahon adding a further point from a free.

The damage was done in the opening minutes of the second half with St Brendans scoring a further 1-5 without reply before Ciara Murphy scored her second point. A brace of goals from Rachel Mahon within 5 minutes of each other - one from the penalty spot and one from a short range free - offered brief hope, but the canny St Brendans kept 13 players in their own half for the last 15 minutes and denied FoxCab the space and time to launch a late comeback.

Good luck to St Brendans next week as they take on Erins Isle in the Group A decider. FoxCab Juniors are away to Ballyboden C in a fixture which will impact the follow-on Shield competition rankings.
